A day trip takes you from Sorrento across the Bay of Naples to the famed Isle of
Capri, whose magnificent beaches have been celebrated ever since the days of the
early Roman emperors. Return to Sorrento, where you might wish to attend our

Leave the seaside town of Sorrento for the eternal grandeur of Rome today,
stopping along the way to explore the legendary ruins of Pompeii. When Mount
Vesuvius erupted nearly 2,000 years ago, it covered this Roman resort town in
volcanic ash, perfectly preserving its temples, theaters and homes. Arrive in
Rome this evening and join your group for an included dinner. Included meals:

Sun, June 27…Day 5 – Rome
This morning, follow over 2,000 years of history during a sightseeing tour of
Rome. View the Forum—the ancient meeting place of the Romans—as well as the
Colosseum. You’ll then have a free afternoon. Included meals: breakfast.

Mon, June 28…Day 6 – Athens
After
breakfast, you might choose to join an optional excursion to Vatican City or
enjoy a free morning in Rome. Later, transfer to the airport where you will
board a flight to Athens, Greece, site of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.

Tues, June 29…Day 7 – Athens
Today a local guide introduces you to Athens. Walk amid the ruins of the
Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Descending from the Acropolis, view the
Presidential Guard in their traditional costumes and the classically inspired
Greek Parliament. Then pass through Syntagma Square, where you’ll see the Tomb
of the Unknown Soldier. Tonight, savor classical Greek cuisine at an optional
Greek Folklore Evening Included meals: breakfast. Included entrances: Acropolis
site.
Wed, June 30…Day 8 –
Delphi
Transfer to Delphi for a full-day excursion of the home of the mystical oracle.
Visit the Temple of Apollo, where, according to legend, the god communicated
with mortals. Travel back to Athens for a free evening. Included meals:
breakfast, lunch. Included entrances: Delphi Temple.
Thurs, July 1…Day 9 – Athens
Today is yours to explore the many wonders of Athens at your own pace. Or you

Fri…July 2…Day 10 – Athens Depart
Athens this morning for Piraeus, where you will board a Louis Cruise Lines’ ship
for a three-day island cruise on the Aegean. Go ashore on Mykonos. The island’s
quaint surroundings attract artists and designers who sell their sculptures,
jewelry and paintings in local shops. Included meals: breakfast, dinner.
Sat, July 3…Day 11 -
The Aegean Islands
Dock first thing this morning in Rhodes. According to myth, this island erupted
from the sea to appease Helios, the sun god, after Zeus overlooked him while
distributing the earth among the other gods. Rhodes was a center of Hellenistic
culture in its early days, then became the territory of the medieval Knights of
St. John. Its three major archaeological sites, Ialyssos, Lindos and Kamiron,
date back to the 7th century B.C. Walk through the Old Town, explore the Jewish
Quarter or see some of Rhodes’ Turkish mosques. Included meals: breakfast,
lunch, dinner.
Sun, July 4…Day 12 -
The Aegean Islands
Enjoy a morning in Patmos. This afternoon, cruise to the Turkish seaport of
Kusadasi. Nearby visit the ruins of Ephesus, one of the best preserved cities
from ancient times. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Mon, July 5…Day 13 -
The Aegean Islands
Your cruise ends this morning in Piraeus. Transfer back to Athens. Spend a free
afternoon in Athens. Included meals: breakfast.
Tues, July 6…Day 14 - The
Aegean Islands Return flight home.
